This provide useful information on our language courses and language camps. To help you find answers to your questions as quickly and easily as possible, we have grouped the FAQs according to our different target groups.

FAQ about Language Courses

  • How do I register for a course?

    We have a three-step process of registration:

    1. During the advertised registration period, fill out the pre-registration form online (on this website).

    2. CSL staff will contact you to confirm that the course will start and ask you to formalise your registration at the school.

    3. Once contacted by CSL staff, come to the school and bring (i) two passport-size photos; (ii) a copy of your photo ID; (iii) a copy of your highest level academic certificate (secondary or tertiary); payment of $200 NON-REFUNDABLE. You will be asked to fill out a Registration Form (which is different from the pre-registration form).

    At that point, you will be registered at the CSL

  • What are the requirements to register?

    Having completed the Online Pre-Registration, CSL staff will contact you to formalise your registration at the school, with the following requirements:

    1. Two passport-size photos.
    2. A copy of your photo identification document.
    3. A copy of your highest level academic certificate (secondary or tertiary)

    4. Payment of the registration fee of $200 NON-REFUNDABLE.

    You will also be asked to fill out a Registration Form (which is different from the Pre-Registration Form)

  • How old do I have to be to participate in a language course?
  • When do the courses start?
  • How many students are there on average in each class?
  • How many hours of class do I get per week?
  • What teaching methodology is used by the school?
  • What happens if I already have some knowledge of the language?

    You will need to take an oral and written Placement Test with the teachers at the CSL. The first step is to fill out the online Pre-Registration Form. Once contacted by CSL staff, an appointment is made at a convenient time. The cost of holding, invigilating, accommodating, correcting and giving feedback involving the Placement Test is $120 for Spanish and English as a Second Language, and $200 for French, German and Portuguese.

  • Are there any language courses for absolute beginners?

    Yes, certainly! You can book a language course with us as an absolute beginner and after two weeks, you'll already have reached a level at which you can make yourself understood in certain everyday situations.

FAQ about Examinations

  • Are certificates given upon course completion?

    The full programme of General Proficiency (international communication) in English as a Second Language, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Italian, consists of eight (8) levels. Each level is twelve weeks. On successful completion of each level, the participant obtains a transcript showing progress. Full certificates are awarded only on successful completion of all eight levels.

    International Certification may be obtained on successful completion of the relevant examinations.

  • What happens if I cannot make it to the exam?

    There is a make-up exam available to students after examination date. Special fees apply for the creation of the additional exam, invigilation, use of facilities, correction (double marking) and feedback as well as an administrative charge.

  • Do I Need Health Insurance?

    We strongly recommend a good medical coverage. You can either obtain your own health insurance or purchase one at the school on arrival.
